|
MANCHESTER Waconians have won the Senior Flags! At the Flags Festival in Rochdale after an absence of 53 years Manchester Wacs can with pride place thier name on the crememorative flag that denotes one of the top lacrosse teams in the country. Following hard on the heels of the Wacs U19s who won the Ted Donnet and Norman Barber u19 tounaments the Senior Squad came out winners in a tatical final that saw Manchester take the honours winning in style 9 goals to 3. The score relects the outstanding standard of goal tending of Will Stelfox of Manchester and Ben Mcallister of Mellor;.both goal minders represented England in the World series in the summer of 2006 and without doubt the onlookers witnessed the best in the country in action. Manchester Goal minder Will Stelfox was awarded MVP after the game. Manchester Wacs played the team game that has brought them so much sucess this season and as usual the goals came from Pat Meade, Ryan Lewis, Tom Caplin, and Anthony Boyle. The main feature on the game was onother head to head from two Engalnd Internationals Tom Gallon of Manchester and Alistair Wallace of Mellor at faceoff. The fisrt Half saw Tom Gallon win the greater percentage of possesion and allow Manchester to dominate in the early stages. Manchester defence was the deciding factor in the game with Will Stelfox outstanding at the back the Long Sticks of Gaz Morgan, Andy Linton, Paul Ryan and Tom Leahy were virtually inpeneratrable, only three goals against in the game proves the point. However you can make your own judgement by watching the game on :-
